Auricular Therapy: Healing With Ears
2012 World Academy of Auricular Medicine Conference,
Taipei
Auricular therapy — the stimulation of the external ear without the use of needles — is a systematic way to evaluate and treat the body’s microsystems.
Sometimes it is referred to as “ear seeds therapy” because practitioners often use small seeds to apply pressure, instead of using needles.
Acute pain problems respond particularly well to auriculotherapy, and pain can be relieved almost immediately or within 24 to 48 hours.
A single session usually lasts about 30 minutes and has no side effects.
In China, auriculotherapy is a well-recognized medical treatment and many other countries also recognize its medical benefits. One recognized theory about how the therapy works suggests that stimulating certain nerves on the ear may send signals to the brain that create a “response” in the region of the body being targeted by the treatment.
